Cowes Harbour
Enhancing Accessibility Through a New Website and Visitor App
What we did
Cowes Harbour Commission (CHC), established under the Cowes Harbour Act and Orders 1897-2012, is the statutory authority for Cowes Harbour and the River Medina on the Isle of Wight. CHC oversees the area from the Prince Consort north cardinal buoy in the Outer Harbour to the Folly up the River Medina.
As a Trust Port, Cowes Harbour operates for the benefit of its stakeholders, governed by an independent Board of Commissioners led by the CEO and Harbour Master, with safety as the top priority. CHC operates as a self-funded commercial entity, aiming to generate surplus revenue to ensure the long-term viability of the port for the diverse range of stakeholders.
We were tasked with designing and developing a new website and visitor app for Cowes Harbour.
Web design & UX
Employing clean imagery and carefully selected typography, we meticulously designed and developed a user-friendly website for Cowes Harbour. The website encompasses essential sections such as Harbour Information, Commercial Services, Visitor Guidance, and Safety & Navigation, ensuring comprehensive coverage for all stakeholders.
Visitor app
We developed a mobile-friendly visitor app tailored for seamless navigation. The app is intuitively divided into two sections: “Visitors by Sea,” providing essential maritime information, and “Visitors by Land,” featuring a local directory of businesses for visitors exploring Cowes on foot.
Everyone at Platform81 is very knowledgeable and they work in a calm and professional manner, so I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone that needs a new website, no matter what sector you are from
