Platform81 are a proud South Manchester agency and love helping local organisations, so when we were approached by Kidscan we couldn’t have been happier to support them with their mission….
Kidscan is a Salford- based charity, funding pioneering research into new and improved treatments for children with cancer.
Kidscan make it their mission to;
- Cure all children diagnosed with cancer
- Improve the current treatments for children with cancer
- Develop new, targeted treatments to treat specific cancers in children
- Use their research base to influence policy overcoming the obstacles to the introduction of new and existing drugs to clinicians
What was the problem….
The existing website had served a purpose, but there was a feeling it didn’t accurately reflect the great work that Kidscan do, and the donation process was lengthy. Also, because the administration process for updating the site was complex, the content, images and blog articles had become very outdated.
What we did….
The primary objective was to deliver a solution that showcased the charity and encouraged users to get involved, through volunteering and/or fundraising. There was a great deal of research and planning carried out in the early stages to ensure the user experience on the site could be as smooth and as simple as possible. Access to key information and the ability to donate was of paramount importance, so the design was created around these requirements.
Lead designer James said, “It was really important to me that we gave Kidscan its own personality. Because of the serious subject matter, it was important to make it approachable and fun, whilst being sensitive, always remembering that children are at the centre of this great charity.”
Simplicity was also key for the in-house administration element of the site, so we pushed the WordPress platform to the limits to ensure each element of the site could be updated, maintained and administered effectively. As part of this we also created a bespoke eTapestry integration form for the donation function which pulls together all fundraising capabilities into one central database.
“They took a creative approach to negotiating commercial terms suitable for a charity partner, and we’re delighted to be working with the Platform81.” Ged Carter, Chief Executive Officer, Kidscan.
Happy clients…
“When we were looking for a digital partner to work with us, it quickly became apparent that Platform81 were the perfect fit for us. From the outset they asked the right questions and gave us confidence that the end result would be exactly what the charity needed.
The team made the process as simple as possible, and their advice on the smaller details was invaluable. The new website is beyond our highest expectations, and the overall feedback we have received has been fantastic and is a huge boost for Kidscan…..thanks very much Platform81!!”
