Another year begins at P81, and once again we’re hoping to achieve big things in the world of digital!

2019 marked a year of major change for the business, with many of our teams being bolstered by brand spanking new acquisitions. We were able to pick up a few awards for our hard work towards the end of the year, most notably at the MTAs for our work on the M Hughes campaign.

What’s next for 2020, then? We sat down with directors Nick and Gary to discuss plans for the coming year, and how P81 plans to smash it out of the park once more.

What changes in personnel do you have planned for 2020?

NW: 2020 is going to be a good year, we’ve already got some really exciting plans ahead with some great opportunities, so we will need to build the teams across the Social, SEO, PPC, Web and Design teams to make sure that we can keep up our output.

GM: We’re always on the lookout for talent whether it’s in Stockport, Manchester or the Midlands. It’s ever-changing in our market, so we need to stay ahead of the game.

What are the key aims of the business for the year?

NW: Continuing to improve. Whether it’s 1% here or 1% there, it all adds up. We’re also recruiting very carefully, ensuring that each person coming on board fits in with the culture of the business. We are a very client-focused business so it’s important that they (new staff) buy into that.

GM: From my point of view we’re trying to make sure that each of the teams are where they need to be from a technical standpoint, making sure each department is right on the edge of what can be achieved in terms of Digital Marketing or Web Development. In summary we just want to help each of our clients, ensuring that we can offer every service we can to push their business forward.

NW: Also from a turnover point of view we want to grow – 20% is our aim.

Which projects are you excited to work on this year?

NW: We got some great clients last year so we’re keen to continue supporting those guys, but also fundamentally to attract the new – no business can stay stagnant, so we want to keep continuing to grow and keep continuing to progress. We’ve got some great opportunities with some well-known brands at the moment that we’re in preliminary stages with, so it’s an exciting time this year.

What’s the biggest lesson from 2019 that can be taken into 2020?

GM: I think a big lesson that we learnt was to let the relevant members of the team grab hold of their individual sectors. Me and Nick can’t be experts in each individual department – I wish we were!

Personal (directors) aims for 2020?

NW: Personally, I’m very passionate about this business, and I just want it to be the best that it can be, from both a Stockport point of view and a Bromsgrove point of view. In Bromsgrove we’re looking to increase the team, and in Stockport, we’re looking to increase our reputation and build on what we’ve already done.

GM: As Nick said, I think we need to keep pushing on as a business, as this isn’t a business where we can stand still.

Thanks for your contribution guys, we couldn’t have put it better ourselves!
